Australia is a major destination for internationally qualified nurses. ANMAC and AHPRA have different roles: ANMAC is responsible for skills assessments for eligible migration pathways, while AHPRA is the national registration authority for regulated health practitioners, including nurses and midwives.
The applicable pathway depends on the applicant's qualification, country of education, registration status, English-language evidence and migration objective. Applicants should identify whether they need AHPRA registration, an ANMAC skills assessment or both.
This is not one universal examination. Depending on the applicant and pathway, requirements can include English-language evidence, professional registration assessment, skills assessment and other regulator or migration requirements. Preparation should follow the current AHPRA and ANMAC criteria for the applicant's route.
